Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking an Endpoint Engineer to support a major national laboratory.

 

This role provides advanced technical expertise for diagnosing and resolving complex endpoint issues, leading provisioning and lifecycle activities during high demand periods. It analyzes performance trends to drive workflow improvements, develops technical documentation, and collaborates with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to define and uphold endpoint standards. The Endpoint Engineer position applies independent judgment to select methods and tools that enhance reliability and service quality. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for advanced troubleshooting, diagnostic analysis, and remediation of endpoint and business application issues, leveraging deep technical expertise to resolve escalations and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide advanced-tier technical support and troubleshooting for Windows and macOS endpoints, including operating systems, applications, endpoint agents, clients, services, connectivity, and configuration issues.
  • Perform weekly Windows patching activities, including monitoring patch deployments, creating associated change requests, validating patch results, and performing light troubleshooting when patches fail.
  • Perform endpoint remediation activities in coordination with Endpoint Engineering, including troubleshooting failed automations, scripts, software deployments, and endpoint configurations, and supporting the testing, validation, and production deployment of endpoint solutions.
  • Support endpoint provisioning, configuration management, upgrade planning, and lifecycle optimization during surge periods or complex engagements, ensuring alignment with engineering standards.
  • Support vulnerability management activities by reviewing vulnerability dashboards and reports, researching affected endpoints, executing established remediation scripts and processes, developing or modifying remediation scripts, deploying approved remediation, and managing associated tickets and change requests.
  • Perform manual remediation of individual endpoints with multiple vulnerabilities, failed agents or clients, corrupted applications, or other conditions requiring hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Monitor endpoint health and compliance dashboards and reports, identify endpoints that fall out of compliance, and perform appropriate remediation to restore endpoint health and compliance.
  • Evaluate trends in endpoint performance, incident patterns, and operational workflows to recommend and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and support a shift-left strategy.
  • Participate in the development, testing, and production deployment of solutions for special-purpose machine configurations and project-based endpoint deployments in collaboration with Endpoint Engineering.
  • Analyze Windows Event Viewer, macOS Console, application logs, and endpoint management-agent logs to diagnose issues and support remediation.
  • Develop documentation, technical runbooks, and knowledge base articles to enable operational excellence and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to support and uphold endpoint standards and ensure adoption of best practices.
  • Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, tools, and techniques to address technical challenges and improve endpoint reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years related endpoint engineering or technical support experience.
  • US Citizenship is required

 

The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
To support operational demands and customer requirements, occasional evening, after-hours, and weekend work may be required.

 

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong Windows and macOS expertise.
  • Experience with endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Intune and/or Jamf.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or other shell scripting sufficient to execute, troubleshoot, and modify endpoint automation and remediation scripts.
  • Strong customer service and technical communication skills

Prefereed Skills:

  • ADDITIONAL / PLUS EXPERIENCE: Windows/macOS hardening, deeper vulnerability management framework experience, advanced automation/ scripting experience.
