Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the IT program at a major national laboratory.

 

Successful candidate shall have experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef. Experience in UNIX, Linux, and/or Windows Operating System (OS), including file management, scripting, editing, and security. Experience with a variety of programming languages, software, or tools to develop regular or ad-hoc queries from large datasets. Familiar with network communication protocols, and other related protocols. Ability to implement solutions integrating Rest application program interface (API) based web services

Responsibilities

  • Daily Stand-up
  • Kubernetes cluster operation and maintenance
  • Creation and maintenance of container images for various COTS and OSS tools
  • Development and maintenance of Helm charts for various COTS/OSS tools as Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings
  • Deployment and maintenance of customer instances of COTS/OSS tools using Helm charts
  • Assisting customers with container builds and Kubernetes deployments of their own applications
  • Development and maintenance of tools used to accelerate development, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and automation, using Bash and/or Python
  • Server deployment and maintenance using Ansible for repeatable system builds and administration
 

Qualifications

  • BS in relevant discipline plus minimum 1 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must have active DOE Q Security Clearance
  • Must Be US Citizen
  • Onsite work is required

Required Skills:

  • Able to communicate with technical customers / developers directly
  • Able to communicate effectively with a team, with daily check-in meetings, frequent chats, frequent collaboration, and occasional real-time collaborative emergency technical problem-solving
  • Familiar with system administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or its derivatives
  • Comfortable with container technologies, such as docker/podman, and with container orchestration, such as docker-compose or kubernetes
  • Familiar with using configuration management, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Familiar with git VCS
  • Familiar with build automation tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab-CI, GitHub Actions, or Travis CI
  • Capable of scripting and developing tools in Bash and Pytho
