Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Junior JavaScript Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist in enhancing the overall functionality of software by improving software architecture, supporting existing software, and engineering hardware components that optimize various technologies.

This role involves providing technical support to clients, testing applications, maintaining hardware, and responding to customer requests. The Junior JavaScript Developer will also analyze complex system requirements, design software tools and subsystems, and manage software development and support processes. You will manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques, and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Additionally, you will estimate software development costs and schedules, review existing programs, and assist in making refinements that reduce operating time and improve current techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to investigate, plan, gather requirements, design, develop, test, document, analyze problems, and support software systems and applications.
  • Support the design of software tools and subsystems that support reuse and domain analysis, assisting Applications Engineers and Programmers in interpreting software requirements and design specifications, coding, integrating, and testing software components to ensure they meet project objectives.
  • Analyze functional business applications and design specifications across various areas, including finance, accounting, personnel, manpower, logistics, and contracts.
  • Develop block diagrams and logic flow charts, translating detailed designs into computer software, testing, debugging, and refining software to produce high-quality products.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation and enhance software to improve efficiency while providing technical direction to programmers to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Experience in information system design, including application programming on large-scale database management systems and the development of complex software to satisfy design objectives.
  •  Writing, documenting, and maintaining high-quality code for web applications using JavaScript (React, Next.js, Node).
  • Collaborating with customers and stakeholders to gather and define application requirements.
  • Testing, debugging, and refactoring frontend and backend web application code to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including design specifications and user manuals.
  • Assisting in the deployment of applications and monitoring their performance in production environments.
  • Engaging in continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and best practices in software development.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions with existing systems and technologies.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users facing issues with applications and hardware.

Qualifications

  • BA in relevant discipline plus minimum 5 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Engergy Q Clearance. 


Required Skills:

  • Experience with software engineering standard methodologies.
  • Experience with Linux, Mac, or MS-Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with JavaScript (pre-ES6 and ES6/7), React, Next.js, Node, HTML/CSS, Git, MySQL, SQL, and MongoDB.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Playwright).
  • Experience with automation, orchestration, continuous integration, and continuous delivery tools such as Docker, GitLab CI, and OpenShift.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment, either remotely or onsite.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with engineering and high-performance computing environments, including programming models and engineering applications.
  • Experience in systems administration for Linux servers.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools, chat platforms, or web technologies.
  • Experience with Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with tools such as GitLab, Jira, or Mattermost.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles.
