Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Business Analyst III to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. The Environment, Safety and Health Systems Engineering department develops and supports, agile, integrated, process-based software solutions that enable Sandia to achieve its business and mission objectives, with focus on the health and safety of the workforce, and protection of the environment, while complying with regulatory and other requirements effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

Assist in applying common best practices for the industry to the customer using a knowledge base to create conceptual business models and to identify relevant issues and considerations in selecting application software packages. Assess the operational and functional baseline of an organization and its organizational components and help to define the direction and strategy for an engagement while ensuring the organizational needs are being addressed. Typical areas addressed include Human Resources, Finance, Supply, and operations. Identify information technology inadequacies and/or deficiencies that affect the functional area’s ability to support/meet organizational goals. Generate functional area strategies for enhanced IT operations in a cross-functional area mode throughout the organization. Participate in account strategy sessions, strategic assessments and design reviews to validate enterprise approach and associated work products, such as enterprise resource (ERP) implementations coordinating the resolution of highly complex problems and tasks.

Participate in chartered teams future state process development meetings, as needed

  • Provide solution delivery lifecycle (SDL) documentation templates (e.g., process diagrams, stakeholders, glossary, use case, business rules, product vision, and features lists) to subcontractor with guidance and examples for completion
  • Support the documentation effort as needed to ensure compliance with Solutions Delivery Lifecycle (SDL)
  • Attend and participate in all subcontractor-customer meetings, discussions, and review sessions
  • Provide clarification on customer definitions, current IT solution implementation details, and translation of business process on behalf of customer, as needed
  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings to review subcontractor requirements documentation for accuracy and feedback
  • Send commented/updated requirements documentation, wireframes, and mockups to IT project manager for submittal to Review & Approval and subcontractor by negotiated response dates
  • Document any technical requirements (e.g., integrations, security, performance, design, etc.) not captured by the customer or subcontractor
  • Maintain completed requirements documentation for change tracking and traceability in customer IT requirements repository (e.g., project wiki)

Qualifications

  • BS/BA plus 7 years of experience
  • In lieu of degree an additional 6 years of related experience totaling 13 years
  • U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy L clearance
  • Candidate must reside in the Albuquerque as onsite work is required to meet with customer and teams. Occasional travel to Los Alamos maybe needed.
  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools currently in place; Jira, Confluence,

Desired Skills 

  • Experience with COTS highly desired
  • PMI certifications such as PMP, CAPM, BPA
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
