C++ Programmer

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a C++ Programmer to support the IT program at a major national laboratory.

The Next Generation Systems and Solutions department partners with several SIPP and internal mission organizations to design, develop and deploy large-scale remote sensing systems for real-time national security missions.

• Participate in the design of software tools and subsystems to support reuse and domain analysis.
• Assist Applications Engineer and Applications Programmer to interpret software requirements and design specifications to code and integrate and test software components.
• Program in C/C++, Java or Python to meet user requirements.
• Test and debug programs, functions and services.
• Develop software to the organization's best practices.
• Meet with a customer to gather requirements or demonstrate work in progress.
• Collaborate with team within agile methodology.
• Diagnose and identify issues and bugs, and implement applications.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 8 years of related experience. In lieu of degree an additional 6 years of related experience totaling 14 years. 
• DOE L Clearance required, ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance
• Must be US Citizen

Required Skils 

• Development experience in C++ (v11, v14, v17+) in an object-oriented environment
• Experience developing software on a Linux-based platform
• Experience with large data systems processing development
• Experience and interest in working on an Agile team
• Strong collaboration and teaming skills 

Desired Skills 

• Development experience in Python
• 3+ years of Git, Gitlab, or CI/CD tool experience
• Experience with large DoD or DOE satellite or ground station data process systems development (500k+ lines of code)
• Experience modernizing legacy production software systems
• Applied Agile software development methodology experience
