Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the IT program at the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), assisting with the digital transformation within classified and unclassified IT systems and networks. You will work with our geographically dispersed team of Engineers, Administrators, Analysts, and Managers to provide effective solutions to complex enterprise IT challenges. You will work directly with the CIO, DCIO, Directors, Enterprise Architect, and our team SMEs to methodically modernize IT infrastructure and business systems while existing operations continue uninterrupted. This role requires a current DOE Q or DOD/DOJ TS clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Network design and architecture for classified and unclassified enterprise networks to support strategic projects and initiatives to include data center migration, cloud implementation and migration, network consolidation and modernization, and zero trust networking.
  • Research solutions to complex issues, continuous improvement of IT service delivery and enhancing the user experience.
  • Provide detailed specifications and diagrams for proposed solutions, to include rough orders of magnitude (ROM), base order of materials (BOM), and level of effort (LOE).
  • Implement DevOps and DevSecOps processes and tools.
  • Perform market research and coordinate technical demonstrations related to product selection and cost benefit analysis.
  • Analyze current and emerging technologies like Government Secure Cloud and CSfC, Commercial Solutions for classified mobile access.
  • Work with lead Solutions Architect and Technical Project Managers to ensure successful project completion through comprehensive planning, testing, implementation, and reporting.
  • Employ state-of-the-art network practices and tools approved by organizational leadership to develop solutions and drive modernization efforts while ensuring continuity of infrastructure and IT services.
  • Plan, analyze, document, and assess compliance with information systems programs, policies, procedures, standards, and tools.
  • Ensure network services have sufficient capacity, stability, and agility to satisfy service level agreements with business units.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Lead efforts on Acquisition & Deployment.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Recommend improvements and/or alternatives to the company's existing systems architecture and technology portfolio.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required per contract. Must have an active DOE Q or TS/SCI clearance.
  • 7+ years of experience in Network Engineering.
  • 5 years supporting classified enterprise networks.
  • 2+ years of experience in cloud implementation and migrations in classified and unclassified areas (Azure)
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with other Senior and Network Engineers to build a stronger team and develop staff members.
  • Demonstrated experience developing Concepts of Operations (ConOps), Requirements, Basis of Design, Network design documents and topologies.
  • Experience performing network engineering duties on environments that support at least 2,000 users.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, building, and implementing information security within networks using DoD information security standards (STIGs); network infrastructure life cycle management; and developing detailed end-to-end network performance assessments.
  • Ability to optimize multiple enterprise networks of mixed classification.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience implementing networking technologies in support of LANs, WANs, VLANs, and WLANs for inclusion in future designs.
  • Expertise in cross-domain solutions (CDS)
  • Demonstrated support of Network Operations Center and Security Operations Center functions such as continuous monitoring, operating, reporting, detection, investigation, and defending and maintaining the telecommunications, networks, and cyber security components
  • Demonstrated experience in telecommunications and networks transformation and modernization planning to optimize and improve efficiency of services and enhance network design.
  • Demonstrated experience with telecommunications and networks in Cloud environments, including hybrid cloud.
  • Expertise with human centered design (HCD) and customer experience (CX).
  • Working knowledge of PM tools like Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow.
  • A well-rounded understanding of a broad range of technologies and tools including Cisco routing, switching, ISE and CUCM, Palo Alto Panorama, RHEL, Rancid, SolarWinds, and Splunk.

Salary: $125,000 - $135,000
