Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking an ONSITE Business Analyst to provide support to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) contract located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position will manage projects and tasks within their scope of responsibility, under the general direction of the Site Program Manager. This position will work alongside other Business Analysts while working closely with the Systems Operations & Cyber Security Teams, Site Engineering Department, as well as many other internal partners as needed or required. The main tasks will require supporting the implementation of the WIPP Enterprise Architect (EA) Plan. This includes, but is not limited to, performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, maintaining the EA repositories and supporting user acceptance testing. To succeed in this role these individuals should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
  • Implementing the WIPP EA Plan focusing on defining the strategy and approach that will best support long-term WIPP business plans and goals.
  • Supporting the WIPP Cyber Security Plan focusing on managing End of Life / End of Service components of the WIPP architecture, system vulnerabilities, licensing and certificate management and analyses to prevent redundancy and duplication of functionality.
  • Leading ongoing reviews of business processes and developing optimization strategies.
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Conducting meetings and presentations to elicit ideas and share findings.
  • Performing requirements analysis.
  • Documenting and communicating the results of your efforts.
  • Effectively communicating your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports.
  • Working closely with clients, technicians, and managerial staff.
  • Providing leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff.
  • Allocating resources and maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Supporting user acceptance testing.
  • Updating, implementing, and maintaining procedures.
  • Prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Serving as a liaison between stakeholders and users.
  • Managing competing resources and priorities.
  • Monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of projects.

Qualifications

  • ONSITE WORK IN CARLSBAD, NEW MEXICO
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related field; desired degree would be a MBA
  • In lieu of a degree, relevant experience is applicable.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required per Contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Clearance.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of software technical support.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture practices and objectives.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to clearly define functional requirements.
  • Experience performing alternative analysis.
  • Experience developing project business cases.
  • Experience developing and implementing traceability matrixes.
  • Ability to uncover core requirements.
  • Ability to integrate requirements with information systems.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a Risk Management program.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Ability to break projects down into logic milestones.
  • Experience in developing Plans, Procedures and Desk Instructions.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Competency in analyzing and problem solving of COTS applications.
  • Competency in designing and working with Relational Databases preferably MS SQL Server.
  • Competency in designing system interfaces.
  • A track record of following through on commitments.
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience leading and developing top-performing teams.
  • A history of supporting successful projects.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
  • Experience designing user accepting testing criteria.
  • Experience with Configuration Management systems.
